“Faith, for me, was never about rejecting God. It was about refusing to limit the ways I could experience the Divine.”

Growing up, the familiarity of the church’s traditions were a safe space for young Laura, in and out of the sanctuary. As the daughter of a priest, her life quite literally revolved around her faith. As she says, “Church wasn’t about what we did, it was who we were.”

In spite of this, however, subtle doubts started to creep in. How does one deal with questions when questions seemed unnecessary? Was there room for faith to look different than she was accustomed to?

So she left. She didn’t leave God, but she started to search for Him – and find Him – in unorthodox ways. This led her to a whirlwind of discovery, meeting God again for the first time - in spite of her doubts!

Safe Space for my Wild Faith documents the author’s journey of seeing the Divine in spaces outside of the Church – and encourages anyone who feels the pull to seek answers in unconventional ways that they are not alone.
